Is the Cold War simmering again?

I've been casually following news stories concerning Russia's presidential election and the shift in power from Putin to... Putin's puppet? So it comes as no big surprise that Medvedev has apparently "won" today. If any of you are interested in hearing a little about it, here's a link you can follow. I'd also be interested in hearing any thoughts and opinions you have about the Russian situation.

Interesting... so was Putin good for Rusia? I never really heard about him until he was accused of poisoning that spy. But it sound's like that election was riged and their country is a little less democratic. In my opinion, our election may be riged this year too, only it's been a bit more subtle (with what I'm sure are Clinton powerplays behind the scenes). I'm afraid of our government going back to the same 'ruling class elite' too. Oh well...

Sorry about the deleted comment. It was pretty much the same as the last one, only with a few more typos!

Yeah, it's fair to say that they have less civil liberties (or more controlled liberties) than they did under Yeltsin, but I think they're so much better off economically that the majority of Russians would vote Putin in as Tzar if they could! Our election (or at least the democratic primaries) will be interesting to watch unfold––especially if it comes down to the "super delegates". I'm not a big fan of that method. I'd like to see it superseded by a popular vote, even if it does put more power in the hands of the less-educated. I wouldn't worry too much about Hillary at the moment though; Barrack's momentum may prove too much to overcome, even for the Clinton machine!
