Of Dogs & Chocolate Bunnies

A story like this should be told from the beginning....
Last night Melissa and I bought a $1 chocolate bunny at the grocery store–in the easter spirit.
By the end of the night only half of the bunny had been eaten, so, tired as we were, it was left out on the coffee table.
Every morning before leaving for work, we let the dogs out of the crates they sleep in, so they can run around the house a bit, drink, go potty, etc.. Only this morning, an ominous event loomed on the horizon, unknown to the two of us; Sirius found the chocolate bar on the coffee table, claimed it as his own, and carried it underneath the table where he could devour it in secret. Melissa realized this when he went "missing" for a few minutes and left the bathroom to investigate... that's when it happened.
As she got down onto her hands and knees and peered under the table, Sirius, like a viscous feral beast whose very existence is under threat, lunged and snapped at her, cleaving the tender flesh of her nose asunder and eliciting screams of pain that went something like this: Oh ****! ****! **** it! Theron get in here! And sure enough, in "guarding" "his" chocolate, Sirius nearly mortally wounded poor innocent Melissa. This picture is the proof.

(Although we wrote this as a "funny" story, we are actually quite concerned that after a few months of very good behavior, Sirius showed this sign of aggression today. We'll keep working with him but it has created some uncertainty as to what will ultimately happen :( )
